Torn In Two

Torn In Two

“And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.”
Matthew 27:51

Today is the day on the Christian calendar when we celebrate the crucifixion of Christ.
Christ died soon after 3 PM and when he breathed his last, several unusual things spontaneously took place, including the thick tapestry in the temple that separated the Most Holy Place from the Holy Place was torn right down the middle from top to bottom.

This curtain served the purpose of keeping common worshippers out of the Most Holy Place, where only the high priest could enter for a few hours each year on the Day of Atonement. At this moment, however, that modesty curtain was irreparably torn in two. This single act represents perhaps more clearly than any other the power of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross.

Jesus’ body was the true temple, and when his physical temple was torn, he provided access for anyone to come into the manifest presence of God at any time.
Be bold now as you approach Father God in Jesus’ name. Be yourself. Come as you are. The curtain is forever torn in two.

Loving Father, I come into your presence now in Jesus’ name. I am more myself in your presence because you love me in Christ.
