Scotland on Fire

Scotland on Fire

On this day, July 9, in the Year of our Lord 1742, a revival that began the day before was still continuing past 1 AM. George Whitfield had preached to an enormous crowd in Cambuslang, Scotland, on the afternoon of July 8, and a mighty revival erupted.

A local minister documented, “For an hour and half there was such weeping, so many falling under deep distress, and manifesting it in various ways, that description is impossible.” Whitfield started preaching that afternoon and continued to preach that night until past 1:00 A.M. People continued all night long in prayer and worship. The ripples from that encounter with Christ continued for months to come as people engaged in extraordinary prayer, worship and repentance.

Father God, send Your Spirit to my church as my pastor preaches under the anointing of Christ this Sunday.

This daily Christ-encountering, fire-starter is not intended to replace your daily Bible reading and prayer time, but rather to motivate you to spend extended time in His presence.
