Promise of the Father
Promise of the Father
“He ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father.” Acts 1:4
The Bible contains thousands of promises, but there is only one promise known as the promise of the Father. This particular promise bears this distinguished title because this promise is the motherload of all promises.
What exactly is the promise of the Father?
The promise of the Father is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This is the ultimate purpose of God being fulfilled in the life of his children—to be immersed, saturated, filled-to-overflowing with his manifesting presence. The next verse explains: “you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Every other promise leads up to and serves this ultimate promise.
This is certainly a promise God wants you to receive today.
Father God, I claim today the promise of the Father. I declare Jesus is my Baptizer in the Holy Spirit. Right now I step into the waters of the Holy Spirit. Immerse me. Saturate me. Dunk me now under the waters of your Holy Spirit. I receive my baptism now in Jesus’ name.
