Draw Near
“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” James 4:8
Many promises of God are tucked alongside commands of God. The command to draw near to God might seem futile if it sat all by itself. What good is it going to do to draw near to him, you may think.
God knows how you are wired. He knows your heart. He knows you need encouragement.
James 4:8 has no prerequisites, no disclaimers, and no hoops to jump through. Just draw near to him and one hundred percentage of the time he will draw near to you. You can count on it! Anyday. Anywhere. Anyone.
The promises of God are included in the Bible to encourage your faith, encourage your seeking, and encourage your receiving. God calls you to draw near to Him now and He promises that He will draw near to you.
Father God, thank you for this promise in your word. I take it to the bank. Today I draw near to you and I love the fact that you are simultaneously drawing near to me.
