Jesus Watches the Offering Basket

Jesus Watches the Offering Basket

“Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box, and he saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins.” Luke 21:1-2

Jesus carefully watches how much money you give away because your offerings reveal your heart. Your checkbook is a theological document; it tells more about what you truly believe than any statement of faith.

This picture from the Gospel of Luke of Jesus sitting next to the offering basket, carefully watching what people give, is profound. He watches carefully because there may be no more revealing moment in our religious practices than when you give to God.

Every Sunday you face a defining moment when you determine what you will give to God. Every day you face countless defining moments when you have an opportunity to meet the needs of people around you.

The image of Jesus watching over your shoulder as you decide what to give should motivate you to give generously, even extravagantly.

Give extravagantly and bring a big smile to Jesus’ face today.

Loving Father, I welcome your inspecting eye into my financial giving. Develop in me a lifestyle of generosity in Jesus name.

Please PRAY!
We are asking God for the remaining world countries and U.S.A. states to receive the training of the College of Prayer. Pray with us today for Kiribati and Wyoming.
