Fast Fasting
Fast Fasting
Is not this the fast that I choose? Isaiah 58:6
Toward the beginning of a new year is a perfect time to seek God in fasting.
People often ask, “How can I determine how long I should fast?” The answer is easy—how hungry are you? If you have a one day hunger for God, then fast one day. If you have a seven day hunger for God, then fast seven days. If you have a twenty-one day hunger for God, then fast twenty-one days. Let’s not make it too complicated.
God initiates fasting by putting within us a desire for His presence. At times He allows circumstances to become so stubborn and challenging that we cry out to Him in desperation. Hunger for God is the first gift of God. If He has put desperation for a spiritual breakthrough or a deep hunger for His presence in your heart, most likely He is calling you to an extended season of fasting.
Let’s not make it more complicated than it needs to be. Seek the face of God today. He will clarify for you the specifics of how long you should fast.
Father God, I affirm my hunger and desperation. I need a breakthrough. I am confident that my spiritual hunger is Your gift, and I want to spend my hunger in fasting and prayer.
Please PRAY!
We are asking God for the remaining world countries and U.S.A. states to receive the training of the College of Prayer. Pray with us today for Monaco and Kansas.
This daily Christ-encountering, fire-starter is not intended to replace your daily Bible reading and prayer time, but rather to motivate you to spend extended time in His presence.
