Day 11: Kingdom Power
Day 11: Kingdom Power
Fred Hartley, IV
“The kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.” 1 Corinthians 4:20
We have all been exposed to various kingdoms, but the Kingdom of God is not a fantasy like Mickey Mouse and the Magic Kingdom. It’s also not political, like the United Kingdom. As a matter of fact, the Kingdom of God is unlike any other kingdom. When we come into the Kingdom of God, we are changed and we will never be the same. One reason we will never be the same is because of the power that comes through the King of the kingdom.
1 Corinthians 4:20 has always been one of my favorite verses in the Bible. It is a constant reminder to me of the mighty God that I serve. It is all too easy to put God in a box, where His full potential is limited. In this verse, Paul is exposing the arrogance among the leadership in the Corinth church. He is reminding them that the Kingdom of God, through Jesus the King, is not simply head knowledge, but that if it is truly embraced, it impacts the heart. Paul is specifically saying that when the Kingdom of God comes upon a servant, he will not simply be serving out of flesh, but instead the Holy Spirit ignites the person’s soul and out of us will come words and actions of anointing. The Kingdom of God will bring power with it as we seek the King of the Kingdom to advance in every area of our lives.
When we pray the Kingdom of God, we are asking for the power of Jesus through the Holy Spirit to come and advance in us, through us, and around us. What area of your life do you need the power of Jesus to take over? Ask God today to come in power to transform your mind, your speech, your actions, and your prayer life!
