Revival Starts With Rejoicing
Revival Starts With Rejoicing
Rebecca Holcomb
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.” Philippians 4:4
The word rejoice is found 199 times in the NKJV translation of the Bible. I guess it is pretty important to God that we rejoice. I have found that rejoicing takes a level of humility. We often need to repent (change the way we think) before we can rejoice. When we are seeing God for who he is and believe every promise of every one of his names, we will have enough reason to rejoice.
Philippians is all about learning from Christ who chose to ignore his deity, living completely as the Son of Man, by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is a book about joy and how to think with a Kingdom mindset. Do all things without grumbling or complaining. Whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, or praiseworthy, think of these things.
I can’t help but think, if God inhabits our praise, who inhabits our grumbling?
Repent of grumbling and complaining. Change your mind. You have so much to rejoice about. You have a humble leader who invites you to learn from him for he is humble and lowly in heart. Revival will come when children of God think like their master by rejoicing, worshiping, being thankful, and full of praise. When we magnify the Lord, he will be seen differently by others as well.
Lord, I weep over my sin, but don’t let me stay in condemnation and shame. I receive your joy. I rejoice in your forgiveness, healing, and power. I want to live in your joy, rejoicing in everything. Revive my joy and hope. I humble myself before you, I resist my own pride that keeps me in entitlement and repent. You owe me nothing, God, but you have given me everything to live a life of righteousness, peace, and joy in your Holy Spirit.
