Revival Brings Obedience
Revival Brings Obedience
“For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.” Ephesians 5:8-10
Revival brings us from living in darkness to living in the light. All our sins have come to the light and have been forgiven, but as humans, we still fail and need to continually be cleansed from sin. As we seek to abide in the Lord and his light, we become better at obeying him and learning what pleases him. I love how 1 John 2:28-29 puts it, “And now, little children abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming. If you know that he is righteous, you may be sure that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him.”
I love that phrase “practices righteousness.” None of us can be perfectly obedient, but we can practice righteousness. We can fix our eyes on Jesus and rejoice in the forgiveness we have through him and for the robe of righteousness that he has put on us. We can walk as his sons and daughters wrapped in his righteousness and filled with his Spirit to enable us to please him in what we say and do.
Lord Jesus, thank you for reviving me. You give me life daily to walk in your righteousness and obedience. Thank you for your love and faithfulness to do through me what I cannot do on my own.
