Revival Brings Unity
Revival Brings Unity
When revival comes to the church, there is unity among the believers. As believers are cleansed from their sins, they confess to one another and forgive one another. There is a new transparency that occurs in our relationships with each other. We can be ourselves and not have to project a version of ourselves that is false. We have true community and love for one another.
This is what Jesus prayed for us before he died on the cross. He prayed in John 17:11, “And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one.”
This is what happened in the early church right after Pentecost. Acts 2:42 describes it this way, “And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” In 1 Corinthians 12 the church is described as a body with many members and Christ as the head. “God composed the body… that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.” 1 Corinthians 12:24-26 This is a supernatural unity that Jesus brings the church through revival.
Lord Jesus, we long to see revival in our churches! We want to live in love for one another as you have desired. Thank you for the unity you give us through your Spirit that dwells within us. Thank you for the unity of the Trinity that serves as an example of the unity you have for us as the church
